Plus-sorting

SolarWorld’s unique plus-sorting method ensures that our customers receive the watts they pay for. Every module is factory flash tested (at standard test conditions) to determine the peak rated power output, then sorted in 5 watt bin increments. SolarWorld’s power rating accounts for initial light-induced degradation (LID) so there are no surprises after installation.

With plus-sorting, SolarWorld only delivers modules that have greater than or equal to the nameplate rated power. These power ratings are backed up with the factory flash report.

Robust junction box

The proven design of our patented low profile Sunbox(R) junction box, has been installed on over 4,000,000 modules. By integrating the by-pass diodes in to the housing and completely sealing the compartment containing the welded connection to the module ribbons, the design ensures reliable electrical connections and eliminates failures resulting from exposure to the elements. The molded fins on the exterior housing dissipate heat quickly to maximize power output.

Tough enough for the real world

SolarWorld modules are built to last. The patented box channel frame design provides extraordinary stiffness in bending and torsion. The laminate with 4mm glass is set deep in the frame channel and secured with precision applied adhesive. Extra space is allowed between the edge of the frame and the cells to prevent soil build-up from shading the cells and reducing the performance of the module and system. The frame is assembled by press fitting aluminum corner keys into the box channel, eliminating the need for screws which can loosen and result in mechanical failure. The result is an extremely robust package that can be mounted in any orientation and can withstand high snow, ice and wind loads.

Stringent quality control

In-depth in-house quality controls that go far beyond required international standards ensure an extra level of security. All materials are tested in cooperation with external institutes before they are approved. In cooperation with notable certification organizations, the modules undergo a multitude of tests, such as the ammonia test, which tests the suitability of our modules for use in agricultural operations.
